Stories from the Oslofjord

A Hundred Years of Listening is a listening not only forward in time, but also backwards. It is a commitment to listen in all directions, and with all our senses. To listen with place is to deepen our dialog with it, and through that to find a place for our own voice.  In a time of rapid forgetting, A Hundred Years of Listening is a practice of remembering what it means to be in right relationship with our fjord, with each other, and with the more-than-human world.  We are here to listen to stories emerging from the glimmering inlets and sun-speckled beaches and shadowy depths of the Oslofjord.  Together we imagine what the Oslofjord can once again become by hearing what she once  not so long ago  already was.

A shared practice of remembering what it means to be in right relationship with our waters.

And maybe that’s what struck me most: that, in the middle of a practical errand on an early morning, I had been part of something magical. A salmon leaping. A glimpse of nature’s power and beauty. A kind of gift, wrapped in silver and water.
